Spaces & study

Spaces and branches

Organize the long term with Spaces and sub-spaces, and explore side paths with branches that inherit context.

Spaces and branches

Lunar organizes your work with two structures: Spaces for the long term, and branches for controlled side paths.

Spaces

A Space is a long-lived container — a full semester, a degree, a subject — not a loose chat. Everything accumulates there: classes, the concept tree, accumulated memory, the file library and your progress.

When you create a Space you choose its type, and you can write a purpose and instructions that Lunar respects in every class of that Space (see How Lunar remembers).

Available Space types:

  • University degree
  • School
  • Standalone subject
  • Languages
  • Work
  • Personal / hobby
  • Exam preparation

Degree and school Spaces can contain subjects (sub-spaces); the rest are single-level. The type defines the icon and product hints — the underlying behavior (context inheritance, memory, library) is identical for all of them.

Classes

Inside a Space, each chat is a class: one study session within the subject. Classes share context — every message can draw on lightweight summaries of your other sessions and on the Space's memory. With many classes in one Space, Lunar automatically picks the previous ones most relevant to your current message instead of loading everything. This is why a Space remembers what you did weeks ago, and why keeping related work in the same Space pays off.

Branches

Branching creates a sibling conversation holding the real conversation up to the point you choose. The original chat is not touched: it keeps its own thread, and you decide where each one goes next.

How: press "Seguir aquí" on one of your messages and a new chat opens with everything said up to that point. You can also branch from a conversation row in the history, or from a microchat's menu with "Ramificar en un chat nuevo".

It shows up in the list as one more conversation, at the same level as the original, with a small branch icon. Hovering that icon tells you which chat it came from, and clicking takes you there. The branch is named "Rama de …" and inherits the original chat's study context, so it does not start from zero.

[!TIP] Stay in one chat for a continuous topic; open a branch to explore a side path without losing the current thread; create a Space when the work spans weeks or a whole subject.

[!NOTE] Space memory, instructions and how classes share context are covered in depth in How Lunar remembers.
